Mozilla Firefox and Google Toolbar, I need them both
I have been using Firefox browser for the last 8 years and gradually it has become a part and parcel of my online life. I cant think of using any browser other than Mozilla Firefox right now, unless something remarkable (both fast and secured) comes out. Nowadays I stopped comparing Firefox with other browsers (see how loyal I am). But sometimes ago google stopped upgrading google toolbar for the new versions of mozilla firefox which made my life miserable. As a webmaster I need Google Toolbar to check backlinks, pagerank of my websites as well as of other websites including my competitors’ too. Though there are many free plugins or extensions to check google pagerank but none of them is as good as google toolbar. So when google stopped their support for firefox browser I started to find a way so that I can use them both.
Google Toolbar for Mozilla Firefox
Google toolbar offers many features like different search options, bookmarking, docs, news and around 22 buttons to help you to search orkut, docs, calender, finance, product search, video, map search etc and an auto fill option to help you to login quickly to your favorite websites. It also helps you to share your favorites with other popular online communities. It also offers a pagerank bar which enables you to check the pagerank of the site, cached snapshot of the page, finding similar pages and backward links. So I cant ignore the toolbar as well as my favorite browser. So I started looking for an alternative way to make google toolbar compatible with the versions of Firefox.
I always upgrade firefox when an upgrade is available. If you dont know whether you are using the latest version of firefox then go the ‘Help’ button and click ‘About Firefox’. It will show which version you are using and whether any update is available or not.
How to make Google Toolbar compatible with Firefox?
Firefox always checks after every upgrade whether the plugins, extensions and themes are compatible with the new version or not. And you might have seen that after the upgrade it shows that google toolbar is not compatible with the firefox so automatically becomes disabled. If you tried to enable manually you wont succeed, because of the compatibility feature of firefox. So we have to disable the compatibility feature of firefox to enable google toolbar but how?
You dont have to go through the codes or neither you need any coding knowledge, just install the Check Compatibility plugin/add-on, and voila, google toolbar is running as before with firefox latest or any version. Morever the Check Compatiblity plugin doesn’t require a restart, so isn’t it the easiest way to enable google toolbar for your firefox browser?
Just remember before upgrading to any new version of firefox you must have google toolbar installed earlier. And download and install Check Compatibility plugin before upgrading Firefox.
Just a warning, do this at your own risk. I will not be responsible if you face any difficulties or data loss or any risk later. I found this way to make the both working easily and smoothly. If you know or come across any other way do not hesitate to share with me.
Update: It works smoothly with the Firefox 18 version. It works fine also with the earlier versions of firefox like 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17.

Thank you! I’ve been running FF 4 for a while so I could keep Google TB. It worked! I now have the latest browser AND Google TB.
Amazing, it works. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS TIP!!! My sitch was exactly the same as Ripp’s (except I was running FF3.6 as Oracle cloud CRM doesn’t like FF4). Once again, THANK YOU!!!
Thanks a lot, works with FF12. I can’t do without my Google Toolbar; especially not since I have even dragged buttons onto it from Adblock, Flashblock, Downloadhelper, TaxMixPlus…
I found your post via this: http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/forums/1/helproom/4138402/firefox-12/
Thank you so much for posting this. I had been holding off upgrading Firefox b/c I wanted/needed the Google toolbar, and yesterday FF up and upgraded itself and told me I had to restart. Kind of pissed me off.
It works great and makes me happy.
Thank you! Wish I could find another way to bookmark… I’m way too reliant on that Google Toolbar!
Dude! Amazing – No messing with AppData files or nothing. VERY COOL!
Thanks for posting this.
You are great! I have been searching periodically for a way to get my Toolbar back after I (mistakenly) upgraded my Firefox. This time, the search turned up your instructions and they worked. Thanks again!
Thanks a lot
I downloaded the plugin but where can I find Google Toolbar for FF?
Thanks
You can get the google toolbar for firefox here – http://www.filehippo.com/download_google_toolbar_firefox/
I just have tested it, it’s working.
I went to http://www.filehippo.com/download_google_toolbar_firefox/
Google Toolbar 7.1.2011.0512b (Firefox) is disabled, the only thing I can find downloadable is Download Accelerator or Gimp Image Editor or Video Convertor, etc.
Have you installed the check compatibility plugin first? First install it then download and install google toolbar from the location. By default firefox will prevent any software download from filehippo.com, so you should allow that too. Check this download location – http://www.filehippo.com/download_google_toolbar_firefox/download/0c4b6480dc296eb0a07b302b88337fd1/
It worked here too, but I didn’t update my version of firefox 11 just to be safe. So I installed the new version of firefox and used mozbackup to import my old profile.
Then I installed Check Comp Plug in and restarted firefox. Googlebar was back!
Thank you!
Just an observation: I have different profiles for firefox 11 and firefox 15
This is great
Thanks. Worked a treat in FF16
Thank you so very much for this fix. While I’m not adverse to change, I have yet to find a better combination of browser and toolbar than Firefox and Google.
Thanks dear my mozilla automatically upgrade and i don’t know how. After this i was wondering how can i reinstall google toolbar to my upgraded mozilla.
then i got your idea and its work amazing thanks again for this suggestion…
